  • Higher Ed: Mathematics, Teacher: Mathematics

I have spent the past eight years teaching various high school mathematics courses in New York City. As a former computer project manager and computer consultant I am highly proficient in the use of data systems. I have also taught various mathematics and computer classes as an adjunct professor at Westchester Community College and Manhattanville College.

In the past five years I have provided curriculum and instructional leadership for our school. Our staff has a very student-centered philosophy, with a strong knowledge of secondary curriculum, current educational research, and differentiated instructional strategies. I am a leader that is very knowledgeable of NYS standards and assessments with the ability to use data to target instruction in order to strengthen student achievement.

In April, 2009 I received New York State certification in School Administration/Supervision as a School Building Leader (SBL), and in April 2010 I received NY state certification in School District Leadership (SDL). Additionally, I participated in comprehensive efforts which helped Jonathan Levin High School achieve an "A" rating this past school year. My dedication to this effort along with my understanding of both technology and data aggregation was critical to this effort.

As an educational leader I believe that we must unite theory, practice, emotion and passion to foster and guide a positive learning community. Creating a healthy learning environment includes combining effective communication with strong classroom management, strong academic rigor and forging partnerships with parents and the community. My success in these areas has been due to my willingness to collaborate, accept change and be accountable. These are the values that guide my leadership principles whether it is on a grade, department or school level.
